Moments after Real Madrid emerged victorious from last Saturday’s league match against Real Sociedad, Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) lightweight contender, Khabib Nurmagomedov paid a courtesy visit to five-time Ballon dÓr winner, Cristiano Ronaldo bearing gifts.
The undefeated Nurmagomedov, 29, who holds a perfect record of 25 wins, 0 draws and 0 losses (25-0-0) has been a longtime admirer of both Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo was invited by the club to meet Ronaldo after the game. A short video posted by the fighter on Instagram showed Ronaldo uttering an Arabic greeting to the camera, with the fighter promptly responding.
Nurmagomedov handed Ronaldo one of his trademarked wigs, known as the papakha and got both a customised Real Madrid jersey and a signed ball in return.
Ronaldo, 33, is known for his affinity with combat sports and maintains close ties with kickboxer, Badr Hari and UFC superstar Conor McGregor. In 2016, the ex-Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon star revealed that he would like to live like a king in retirement and watch boxing fights with his friends and family.
The visit could mean that he has plans of being in attendance when Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson (25-3-0) square off in the Octagon on April 7 for the UFC Lightweight championship, with the winner of the bout likely to set up a date with Irish Conor McGregor (21-3-0) later in the year.
