According to the Vice-Captain of Ikoyi Club Golf Section, Mrs. Nkoli Moka, the Children’s Day Golf Tournament is an annual event organized by the Ladies Golf Sub-Committee to expose children to the sport early.
“This year’s tournament was even more important because we didn’t have it last year due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. After several months of limited interaction due to the recent lockdowns it was indeed most appropriate and well timed,” she said.
“Golf is an opportunity to get children out to exercise, instead of being glued to TVs and Video Games, and to socialise,” Mrs Moka added.
Sponsors of the event, which was organised in strict compliance to health and safety regulations, include notable brands such as MTN, Kawe, and UAC Foods. Dignitaries who graced the occasion include Mr Ernest Ndukwe, Chairman of MTN Nigeria amongst others.
Founded in 1938, Ikoyi club is a Lagos’ foremost private member family Club, providing first class facilities for about 10,000 members. Besides the golf course, the Club also has many sports and relaxation amenities for members and their families.
